Unlike Albania, our northwestern neighbor Montenegro has published the population and housing census data in record time.
In 2023, there were 633,158 inhabitants in Montenegro, said the director of the Statistics Directorate of Monstat, Miroslav Pejović.
He made this known at the Monstat conference, on the occasion of the publication of preliminary data for the Census of Population, Families and Housing.
The census was held from December 3 to 28, after its start was postponed several times due to the demands of the opposition and the less complete People's Council that certain conditions for its implementation be met in advance.
Pejovic emphasized that these data are subject to review and are not yet final.
"The registration was successfully completed and our further work continued professionally and in accordance with the law", said Pejovic.
He said that now follows the entry, processing and entry of data.
As she said, the most inhabitants are in Podgorica, Nikšić, Tivar and Bijelo Polje, so 54 percent of the population of Montenegro live in the four most populated municipalities.
Podgorica has the largest population growth according to preliminary data.
Asked why the data on religion, language and nation have not been published, Pejovic said that the process will take several months and then they will be published.
He said that the data has not yet been processed.
The previous population, household and housing census in Montenegro was held in 2011.
Meanwhile in Albania, INSTAT has postponed the decision to publish the Census data in June, while in the government's decision the registration would end on October 31 and the data would be published by December 14, 2023.
There are strong suspicions about the manipulation of data since the population has halved due to emigration, which the Rama government did not like.
In this debate, it is said that INSTAT has released the results for the number of existing residents in Albania, and they came out like this: 1 million and 578 thousand are present inside the country, while according to the Civil Registry, 267 thousand people have obtained foreign citizenship after "Census 2011".
The departure of nearly 1.1 million Albanians in 10 and a half years of power does not please the government, because it led to the failure of social, economic, administrative, security and EU criteria for emigration.
