Dritan Goxhaj, the former KLA fighter, reacted a day after his release from the cell, regarding his arrest on July 31 at the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo.
In an interview for Fax News, Goxhaj spoke about the charges raised and thanked the public for supporting him. He also told the touching situation during the arrest, when his little son saw them handcuffing him.
"I want to thank you, the media, we fought together, you didn't leave me alone. The biggest fight was made by you, who supports me to seek this justice. The children are small, I found them well, they were happy. They have their own world", said Goxhaj.
The former KLA fighter has given details on the article written from where the Special Prosecutor's Office extracted his request for extradition to The Hague. He said he should have been called on his statements first and not arrested. Goxhaj adds further that the Albanian state did not support him and did not expect his actions.
"I stand by what I said. Patriotism is not like beautiful scarves, when we put on a beautiful suit we decide to look beautiful. Patriotism is not the property of anyone, it is a form of the whole people, people who want the state to function as an institution. When I wrote the article, I was told by comrades in the war to be careful, that they will not leave it at that. And I expected that the court and the prosecution would react. What I did not expect was the action of the Albanian state. Part of the Albanian administration, the Ministry of Justice, the police and a part of the Prosecutor's Office from the way it was governed. The way they acted. I expected an invitation, a question, as the law provides. The prosecutor should have called me, asked me the reasons for the circumstances. Action by the state in this way was unexpected. Bending the state to the end, Goxhaj said.
When asked if he would publish the article again and if he still has other things to tell about the event, Goxhaj answers:
"Absolutely yes. Those are not the only names I have stated, there are other names as well. I will continue to write, in prison one becomes even clearer", he concluded.
