Two strong earthquakes shake Elbasan, tremors also felt in Durrës

The Institute of Geosciences reports two tremors within a few seconds, with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale.

Two earthquake tremors were recorded this Friday afternoon in the Elbasan region, also felt in some areas of Tirana and Durrës.

According to data published by the Institute of Geosciences, the first tremor was recorded at 15:40:00, with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale and a depth of 15 kilometers. The epicenter was located in the Bradashesh area, in Elbasan.

Just one second later, at 15:40:01, another tremor was recorded with the same magnitude, 3.9, but with a depth of 10 kilometers. According to IGJEUM, its epicenter was in Papër, Elbasan.

The tremors were felt by residents of Elbasan, while reports of ground movements also came from the outskirts of Tirana and Durrës.

So far, no material damage or injuries have been reported.
