A serious incident happened this morning in front of the Durrës municipality, where an elderly woman tried to set herself on fire with gasoline.
The elderly woman, who was still shocked and with a trembling voice, could not clearly explain the reasons that pushed her to this extreme act, but said that she did it all because of economic problems and that the children had abandoned her.
Fortunately, passers-by and municipal policemen who were in "Liria" square immediately intervened and helped the elderly woman to remove the burnt clothes from her body, only suffering burns on her legs, "DurrësLajm" reports.
She was transported by ambulance to the Durres hospital, where she will be kept under the care of doctors.
In relation to this event, the Secretary for Public Relations in the Democratic Party, Jola Hysaj, reacted through social networks.
