The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, is today reporting to the Law Commission on the progress of the Special Prosecutor's Office in 2022.
He said that four sentencing decisions were given to former high-level officials.
Duman also gave figures for the work done so far, where he stated that the confiscations of assets derived from crime and bribery have increased.
Over the course of two years, specifically 2020-2022, it results that a total of 24 criminal proceedings have been investigated by the Special Prosecutor's Office with 25 people under investigation, including former high-level officials, including politicians, former judges and mayors .
Among these, the following were sent to the court with a request for trial: 8 criminal proceedings with 8 defendants (former Judge); 3 criminal proceedings with 3 defendants (former Prosecutor); 1 criminal proceeding with 2 defendants (former MP); 1 criminal proceeding with 1 defendant (former Deputy Minister); 1 criminal proceeding with 1 defendant (KPK member); 4 criminal proceedings with 4 defendants (former Mayor).
In the report of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime, it is stated that during the year 2022, 42 persons were announced as wanted internationally. What is noticeable is the establishment of joint investigative groups with partner countries. The list includes 11 new working groups with countries such as Italy, Germany, Great Britain and several other countries, where the focus is on the fight against corruption and organized crime.
