The Minister of Finance Ervin Mete appeared today at SPAK and a few minutes ago he left the premises of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
According to reports, Minister Mete was in SPAK regarding the issue of incinerators. It is reported that his questioning has to do with the time when he served as deputy minister in the Ministry of Economy when the latter was headed by Arben Ahmetaj.
Mete holds the post of Minister of Finance from September 2023. Before this task, he was the General Executive Director of the Financial Supervision Authority (AMF), voted on May 28, 2020 by the Assembly of Albania.
Earlier, Mete also held the position of Chairman of the Board of the Financial Supervision Authority, since September 2019.
All the people involved in the incinerator affair have climbed the steps of SPAK, who is under investigation and who as a person in the know, all have been interrogated by the Special Prosecutor's Office.
A few days ago, the former Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, was called to SPAK and was questioned for 6 and a half hours at SPAK about the same issue.
We remind you that SPAK has separately investigated the incinerator of Fier, Elbasan and that of Tirana. All three schemes have cost taxpayers over 150 million euros.
In the rank of senior leaders related to this issue, the former Minister of Environment Lefter Koka was sentenced to 6.8 years in prison under charges of corruption and money laundering. Meanwhile, Klodian Zoto, Stela Gugallia and businessman Mirel Mërtiri have been declared wanted.
