The MEP, Ignazio Marino, during his speech in the European Parliament, attacked the "Rama-Meloni" pact, calling it inhumane.
Marino said that the agreement of the camps in Albania has as a model, the prison in the American base of "Guantanamo" in Cuba. The MEP claims that taking immigrants out of the EU borders allows countries to treat immigrants outside the legal framework.
He further added that even dogs are treated better than immigrants who will end up in Albanian camps.
The camp for asylum seekers created by Italy in Albania is a "concentration camp" which has a recent precedent, the prison in the American base of "Guantanamo" in Cuba. Intellectual honesty is missing in that part of this room that two days ago rejected the discussion about the deportation and detention, in a concentration camp outside the European borders, of immigrants fleeing to escape violence, hunger, poverty. The Meloni government's agreement with Albania has a precedent: the Guantanamo base, where prisoners can be treated outside the law. But in the case of Guantanamo, we are dealing with suspicions of terrorism. It is about 'holistic' treatment of depressed people.
I imagine - he continues - that each of you last night, including the honorable Nicola Procaccini, whom I thank for listening, had a great dinner and this morning a refreshing hot shower. Here is the holistic vision in the words of the Italian Prime Minister: Borders are sacred and dogs and pigs arrive in Europe. I don't know about pigs - he concludes - but our beloved domestic dogs in Europe receive a much more holistic treatment than that reserved for immigrants brought to Albania", he said.
