The images that come from the war between Israel and Hamas evoke sadness, compassion, but also fear and concern all over the world.
News that another war has begun, while armed conflict still rages in Ukraine, makes war no longer just a distant thought.
"Wars have been and are present in the life of humanity, but they have been far away from us. But the peculiarity of today's time is that the war has come closer around us, the wars have moved to Europe, the wars are coming to us and this increases our sensitivity to them. The war itself is a continuation of the conflict but at a higher level," says sociologist Edmond Dragoti for TCH.
Sociologists explain that although for Albania the war is not a threat that lies behind the gate, still the events that happen in the world manage to evoke a sense of insecurity in society.
"The war increases not only uncertainty but also the inability to predict what will happen to you. This raises the tension to the max. It is no longer the period of cold wars that were resolved or postponed by agreement and cooperation of the elites of countries, peoples or states, but now they are possible to be affected by each of us. And the possibility of being a victim of a war is now even greater and the inability to organize to face it in the first moment is what affects more and hits the psyche of each of us. That is, individual stress now turns into social, societal and national stress", explains the sociologist.
The time in which we are living, with the use of social networks, where everything is distributed quickly and without filter, brings to attention again the importance of reliable sources of information, to get accurate information but also not to raise concern among the ages small with a heavy appearance that come from the bitter reality of a war.
The death toll in Israel has reached 1,200, while more than 900 people have been killed in retaliatory airstrikes in Gaza.
An Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the scenes coming out of Gaza would be harder to watch.
US President Joe Biden has described the Hamas attack on Israel - launched on Saturday - as an "act of utter evil".
Also, the first American plane carrying weapons for Israel has arrived in the south of the country.
