The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has reacted regarding the arrest of the operative, who is suspected of being involved in the trafficking of narcotics. Balla says that the process of self-cleansing in the State Police is continuing and added that reform is an important step for a proper police service.
"The process of self-cleaning in the State Police continues. Thanks to the work of the Police Oversight Agency, an employee of the General Directorate of the State Police, suspected of the criminal offense of "production and sale of items" in collaboration with criminal elements, has been placed before criminal liability.
Policing is a noble profession that requires integrity, courage and a deep sense of duty. Therefore, I will do everything to advance the process of self-purification of the police, to have not only the most professional, but also those with the most integrity, both in leadership and in the basic role.
The truth is that in the face of ever-evolving challenges, the role of law enforcers becomes increasingly complex. From the fight against narcotics, illegal gun possession, cyber crimes and definitely against organized crime, our police force must adapt and be capable and innovative to protect and serve the public.
Internal reform and self-cleaning, investments in technology and infrastructure, the Government's commitment to significantly support salary increases this year, are important steps in our goal to have a proper police service, for Albania the champion of Balkans also in the field of public security.
