Inside Story has managed to provide the list of businesses monitored by the National Environment Agency. This institution has monitored 31 subjects over the years. 16 of them have taken administrative measures. There are also those companies that have been fined continuously for the same legal violations, since they failed to fulfill their obligations according to the law.

Both of these fines were imposed for problems related to the companies' environmental permit. Kurumi in Elbasan was also fined in 2016. The administrative measure was 1.5 million ALL. After the inspection carried out in 2024 related to the transport scandal by the "Sokolaj" company, the measure was taken to suspend the activity.
Suspension of hazardous waste transfer activity until the conclusion of the relevant contract/s with a licensed entity for their final treatment/disposal. Kurumi was obliged by KTA not only to pay the fine, but also to take measures for the management and disposal of waste, especially hazardous waste.

Another important company that has been in the block of institutional paralysis for the lack of waste management has been Albchrome.
The two subsidiaries of this company, in Burrel and Elbasan, have been fined 1 million ALL for problems with environmental permits. From the monitoring carried out by the National Environment Agency, this company took administrative measures at the same time, i.e. in 2015. In fact, Albchrome was not fined only by this institution, as the National Inspectorate of Territory Protection also imposed the measure administrative 2,000,000 ALL on October 6, 2021.
The reason for the fine was that during the inspection of the premises of the Albchrome Ferrochrome plant, it was found that the melting of mineral substances was carried out without a functional dust capture system.
