Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu has described as strange the fact that the son-in-law of Sali Berisha, Jamarbër Malltezi, is accused more seriously than Berisha himself.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, he said that Berisha has not yet been informed of the charges as a defendant. He remains a mere suspect with a precautionary measure.
" It is the first time that we have two family members under accusation. We have Abi Malltez, who was not a public official, and Sali Berisha, who was the president of the country and had the responsibility and legal obligation. The son-in-law who had no administrative, political or legal responsibility is in prison, Sali Berisha who had state responsibility and the obligation not to abuse the law is not in custody. In the entire political history of 33 years, all the other former prime ministers, we had two former prime ministers, Vilson Ahmet and Fatos Nanon, both when they were investigated, they were investigated under arrest, more or less with the same charge . , said Spahiu.
