He is in the same SPAK criminal file for SKY ECC wiretapping with former judges Pajtime Fetahu and Zihni Shahu, the latter former president.
Now the former magistrate of the Court of Elbasan, he had problems during the vetting process a year ago.
Tafa was dismissed on April 24, 2023 with the majority of votes of the body of the Independent Qualification Commission, KPK. As he has appealed the case since July 2023 and there is still no final decision.
During the hearings in the first instance, Tafa gave explanations for problems in the three re-evaluation criteria, for wealth, figure and professionalism.
Taulant Tafa started his career in the justice system in 1995 and has been working for more than two decades as a judge in the District Court of Elbasan. In July 2022, Tafa faced a disciplinary proceeding at the High Judicial Council, for his decision to reduce the sentence of Arben Grorin by 720 days. The ILD requested his dismissal, but the HCJ imposed a 3-month suspension on the subject, until a year later the KPK dismissed him.
