The trial for the tragedy of Gërdec has entered the stage of the main witnesses after the confrontation of the former minister Fatmir Mediu with some of them in the special court on Thursday, November 30.

In this session, the former employee of the Ministry of Defense Anila Lala (George) admitted that Aldo Bumçi's fax in 2007 with the note "for Shkelzen Berisha" had arrived in that form at the Ministry of Defense.

The next witnesses, who are on the list to be questioned at the hearing on December 7 and the week after, seem to be related to this very document, exchanged between the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Defense in 2007 regarding the draft decision. of the government for the establishment of the dismantling factory in Gërdec.

It is learned that Plarent Ruka, Sokrat Papadhima, Liza Maksuti, Alma Zili and Anjola Agolli are the next witnesses called in the session of December 7. Anjola Agolli is the former secretary of the Minister of Justice at the time, Aldo Bumçi, who in the preliminary investigations, has admitted that faxes were sent from the Ministry of Justice to the Ministry of Defense for the Gërdeci case, and this happened specifically from the Directorate of Codification. After Agolli, the list of prosecution witnesses includes Aldo Bumçi with serial number 51 and Shkelzen Berisha with number 52 who, according to the calendar of sessions, are expected to appear in the special court on December 14.

Bumçi and Berisha were also questioned during the preliminary investigations regarding the fax marked "for Shkelzen", while SPAK suspects that the son of the former prime minister had meetings with ministers before and phone calls immediately after the explosion in Gërdec.

After the reopening of the process for the tragedy of March 2008, with 26 dead and over 300 injured, about 40 witnesses have testified in court so far. On Thursday, Fatmir Mediu accepted the moral responsibility but exempted himself from the legal responsibility related to the event.
