The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, held a meeting with the structures of the Saranda Police Commissariat, where the focus was on public safety, law enforcement and increasing the response capacities of the Police at the local level.
This meeting comes a few days after operations with the arrests of senior and basic officers involved in illegalities, such as unauthorized construction or abuse of office.
During the meeting, Hita asked the structures of the Saranda Police Commissariat and the Vlora Local Police Directorate to immediately reflect on improving the situation and restoring citizens' trust in the Police.
Hita called for more police presence in road patrols to identify and crack down on crime and illegalities.
"The "Eagle" Special Force must increase its presence and response in the field, to crack down on criminal elements and increase security in the city," said Hita.
He also left a message for the Border Police, mainly on the eve of the tourist season with boats, but also to crack down on traffickers.
"The situation in Saranda is unacceptable and this is the direct responsibility of the Vlora Local Police Directorate, therefore reflection, responsibility and restoration of citizens' trust in the Police are required.
Anyone who maintains ties to or favors criminal groups and high-risk elements in society will be expelled from the Police and will face justice.
Police structures must react forcefully against criminal groups, illegal possession of weapons, the capture of wanted citizens, drug trafficking, and any criminal activity that violates public order and security.
Unauthorized construction will not be allowed in any way. Cooperate and coordinate actions with other structures responsible for the protection of the territory.
School safety is a priority above all else, and until the last day of the school year, maximum commitment is required to ensure the safety of students' lives and health, provide information to Criminal Police agents, and crack down on those who attempt to harm the future of the country.
The Traffic Police and general patrols must exercise complete control over violations that create traffic chaos, improper parking, modified vehicles, and any illegality on the road.
The Special Force "Eagle" should increase its presence and response in the field, to combat criminal elements and increase security in the city.
The Border Police should be more active in preventing and combating cross-border crimes, controlling the green border and monitoring vessels.
Any threat or pressure against Police officers must be reported immediately and will be faced with the full force of the law, ensuring my full support.
On the eve of the tourist season, the Director General requested maximum commitment from all police structures to guarantee order, security and the provision of a professional service to citizens and domestic and foreign tourists.
In conclusion, he emphasized that the Saranda Police must return to the standards that citizens deserve, through professionalism, timely response and impartial implementation of the law," he said.
