The Saranda Prosecution Office has reacted regarding the detention of judicial police officer, Edmond Ruçi, arrested the day before as part of a narcotics investigation.
According to the prosecution, the proceedings are related to a drug case discovered after the arrest of citizens Adriel Zanaj and Keivin Duro on May 19. The two young men were caught in a vehicle with 24 doses of the narcotic cannabis sativa.
During the investigation into this matter, the Prosecution says that suspicions have arisen of involvement in illegal activities by the judicial police officer who was following the case.
According to the official announcement, after investigative actions, evidence and data were obtained that implicate the officer in suspected corrupt actions. For this reason, a detention order was issued against him for the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions."
"During the investigation of this case, suspicions arose of involvement in illegal activities by the judicial police officer who was investigating the case in question, citizen ER," the Prosecution's announcement states.

A judicial police officer in Saranda, citizen ER, has been detained at the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Saranda, suspected of the criminal offense of 'Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions', provided for by article 259/2 of the Criminal Code.
The arrest was carried out following investigations into criminal proceedings no. 305, dated 19.05.2026, registered for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics" provided for by article 283/2 of the Criminal Code against citizens KD and AZ, after 24 doses of the suspected narcotic substance cannabis sativa were found and seized in the vehicle driven by citizen AZ. These citizens were arrested in flagrante delicto and the investigations are ongoing.
During the investigation of this case, suspicions arose of involvement in illegal activities by the judicial police officer who was investigating the case in question, citizen ER.
Consequently, the prosecutor in charge conducted investigative actions, which resulted in data on the involvement of the officer investigating the case in suspected corrupt acts, and he was processed with an order for the detention of the suspect for a crime for the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions" provided for by Article 259/2 of the Criminal Code.
The judicial police officer has been detained by AMP services and investigations are ongoing.
