The former senior director of the State Police, Shemsi Prençi, was invited to Euronews Albania this Thursday to talk about the race for police director.
He himself was one of the 15 candidates for this position, but was disqualified. According to him, he entered the race to prove its legality, since as he said, the commission is political.
"I express my congratulations to the 11 candidates who are in the race, because they have shown that they have courage, bravery and determination to compete for a very important post. I have known this race to be a farce. I meet all the criteria, I should have been allowed to compete", said Prençi.
He also said that the minister of the interior, Ervin Hoxha, "has ruined the race with naivety", as he mentioned in the security council that they have the name of the director of the police.
While talking about the race, Prençi cast doubts that one of the candidates for police chief may end up in prison before the new year.
"I want the race to continue successfully, but if any of the 11 candidates will not celebrate the New Year at home, but at 313, will the criteria verification commission and the minister resign? This is the 1 millionth question. How honest are they? That the commission has qualified them", he said while stating that he will legally prove that the race was political and illegal.
