The announcement that the DEA representative office will be opened in Tirana has left "sleepless" the top heads of state and not only, as this shows that the US does not have faith in Albanian justice.
The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, today traveled to Athens to participate in the International Conference on the War against Drugs.
It is reported that the conference will take place in the Greek capital from September 24-26, 2024. During this activity, Altin Dumani held a meeting with the DEA administrator, Anne Milgram.
The American official praised the results of the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) in the fight against international organized crime, with a special focus on drug trafficking. Both leaders reaffirmed the excellent cooperation between the two agencies and committed to its strengthening, which will culminate with the opening of the DEA representative office in Tirana.
This cooperation is vital to successfully addressing the global challenges related to drugs and organized crime.
After this confirmation, it seems that there will be no peace for the crime bosses and the politicians associated with them.
However, this is not the first time that the DEA representation in Tirana has been talked about. Earlier, it was the American Embassy itself that "instilled fear into the core" of criminals and politicians cooperating with them, confirming that Americans do not trust the Albanian authorities and especially the police.
The embassy asks citizens to contact the DEA directly with any information they have about drug trafficking, people involved in crimes, or money laundering. So it is required that the information be obtained directly from the citizens and not from the authorities.
"The US Anti-Narcotics Agency announces a new hotline for Albania. The DEA encourages anyone with information related to drug trafficking or the laundering of drug proceeds to share the information with DEA personnel on whatsApp at: +1 571 502-7846 or by email at: [email protected]. All data will be kept confidential. The United States is committed to working with Albania to combat drug trafficking and money laundering related to them, for a better future for all Albanians ," the US embassy statement said.
It seems that the American DEA does not trust the police or the Albanian prosecutor's office. Many reports say that criminal groups penetrate to high levels and Americans have decided to evade the authorities in gathering information. But since the first contact that citizens turn to if they see something illegal is the police, it seems that the DEA has avoided this institution and sent a strong message to the government.
Some time ago the DEA decided to open an office of its own in our country to investigate drug trafficking. Tons of cocaine were coming into our country from Latin America and the DEA brought in experts and investigators. But it seems that the agents are engaged normally and seek direct cooperation with citizens to fight this phenomenon, bypassing the authorities.
