The Special Prosecutor's Office requested the extension of the investigation by three months for Laert Haxhiu's group, in order to fill the deficiencies in the file, a request which was partially accepted by the GJKKO.
The trial panel gave prosecutor Behar Dibra only 45 days to fully complete the investigations.
In this file, the defendants are Erisiano Abedini, Bujar Abedini, Lulzim Spahija, Ligor Romacckq, Idriz Manej, Maringlen Topuzi, Bledar Berberi, Enriko Xhahysa and Fatjon Veliu.
The arrest of Artan Tafan, after a robbery at a currency exchange point in the Astir area of Tirana, led to the attack on Laert Haxhi's group.
Tafani became a repentant justice and confessed several criminal events that shocked the country during the years 2021-2023, starting from murders, assassinations and violent thefts.
The criminal gang was busted at the end of September 2023, following a nationwide police operation.
