The Ministry of Interior has set the date for the interview of candidates for the position of Director General of the State Police. According to an official announcement, the Special Commission will interview the candidates on March 24, at 09:30, while there are 14 names in the race.
Despite the fact that 16 candidates had expressed their interest in running for the position of head of the State Police, two of them, who were not part of the structures of this organization, were disqualified after preliminary verification. It is learned that the two candidates did not meet the criteria set for the competition.
Meanwhile, it is learned that the Special Commission consists of three members: the Deputy Minister of Interior in the role of chairman, the Secretary General of the ministry, and the head of the Police Supervision Agency.
In the race for the head of the State Police are Saimir Boshnjaku, Tonin Vocaj, Skënder Hita, Elidon Çela, Afrim Tafa, Rebani Jaupi, Lorenc Panganika, Gentian Berberi, Alfred Çepe, Arjanit Arapi, Gentjan Shehaj, Idajet Faskaj, Neritan Nallbati and Pëllumb Seferi.
At the end of the interview, the Commission will have a period of 48 hours to rank the names based on the points that will be evaluated, while the procedure concludes with the sending of the names that rank first to the Minister of Interior.
It is believed that the decision on the head of the State Police will be made official within March or in the first days of April, thus concluding a procedure that began after the dismissal of Ilir Proda. The latter left the position without completing his 3-year mandate, while the reason used was the Molotov cocktails that were thrown at the former villa of former dictator Enver Hoxha, during an opposition protest.
The decision to dismiss Proda was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, although Pamfleti had previously announced that such a decision was expected.
