Analyst Agim Baçi said that the Democratic Party and the opposition parties should have come up with a political candidate for Tirana Municipality. He added that the name should have been presented the day after Veliaj's arrest.
Baçi emphasized that it is absurd to make a career in the DP and on the other hand to refuse the electoral race for the largest municipality in the country.
"The opposition should have had a political candidate since February 11, on February 10, Veliaj was arrested. It was unprepared. For me, a completely political candidate was needed. If Binaj wins, whose is it? Because if he doesn't win, they will say he's not ours, but civil society failed. The opposition should not bypass this process. I think a political force should be serious. I don't understand those who are in a career and refuse to run for Tirana because they are afraid of losing. But in politics there is not only victory, in politics you will compete.
