The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, has explained the installation of the metal fence in the Ura e Lana area, while the fourth protest against the tourist project in Zvërnec is taking place in Tirana.
In a statement to the media, Hita said that the measure is related to the security plan for the Albania-Israel friendly match and not to the citizens' protest.
" This area is a security zone for the Albania-Israel match. That is why this measure was taken. These are security measures that are taken in every match and we cannot make any changes today ," Hita declared.
The installation of the metal fence has attracted the attention of protesters, as the barrier has been erected on the route leading to the Prime Minister's Office area. However, according to the State Police, these are standard security measures that are implemented in the context of organizing international matches and activities with increased risk.
Meanwhile, the protest against the Zvërnec project has continued for the fourth day in a row, with citizens and activists demanding a halt to the planned investment in the coastal area of Vlora. The protesters initially gathered at Skanderbeg Square and then began marching towards central institutions.
