The Special Court has postponed until Thursday the preliminary hearing on whether or not to proceed to trial in the "Partizani" case, where the defendants are former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi, and three other people.
In Wednesday's session, Judge Flojera Davidhi rejected all requests by the defendants' defense lawyers for the invalidity of SPAK's evidence on the Partizani file investigations.
For this reason, the defense attorneys requested time to consult with their clients and the hearing was postponed to Thursday at 1 p.m.
Lawyer Romeo Kara, invited to "Ora e Fundit" on ABC News, said that this case has been dragging on for months and Berisha's lawyers are finding ways to buy time. He stressed that the decision to move the case to trial could be made on Thursday at the hearing, but the chances are slim.
"The Criminal Procedure Code does not specify a clear deadline, but based on the constitution, we should not have delayed trials, but in this case we have many delays. The court today took one of the measures, it did not recognize the parties' requests. It should have been completed. The transition to trial can be granted as early as tomorrow," he stressed.
He commented on the public appearance of the chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Beriasha, who after consultations with La Civita clearly appears to be trying to copy Donald Trump's "appearance" in the US election campaigns.
For the lawyer, Sali Berisha seems more like a "Chinese version" of Donald Trump. According to him, justice must do its job, in order for the contract signed between the DP and La Civita to be made public.
He emphasizes that there are suspicions that this contract was paid for with dirty money, an act that, according to the lawyer, should be clarified by the competent authorities.
"I am bringing a Chinese version of Donald Trump. Berisha is in free fall, he is worn out and has no motive. For me, it was not simply an electoral contract, since it is for lobbying and there should be an investigation for this. While the money that is financing this campaign is also hidden, I believe it is with dirty money. The LaCivita contract must be clarified. La Civita will certainly not be seen again in Albania after the elections," he stressed.
