Journalist Elton Qyno said that if he were to lose in the Constitutional Court, he would appeal to the Strasbourg Court.
He spoke after the Constitutional Court's decision, which ruled in favor of the journalist in the legal battle with the Special Prosecutor's Office for the protection of the source of information.
"In fact, since it began as a story on December 13, 2023, it was set as a precedent, despite the fact that we warned that day that legal steps would be taken, once again entering the first, second, and third levels of the judiciary, we were certainly going from loss to loss."
Even though we were going from loss to loss, we had actually entered a dangerous precedent set by SPAK.
But what then dealt the fatal blow was that these three defeats that we suffered at all three levels of the judiciary, we achieved a complete victory precisely in the Constitutional Court.
Even if we lost in the Constitutional Court, we considered it a legal link to move to a higher level, which was Strasbourg.
"We had tested all legal options, where we initially went to Strasbourg to request a security measure to prevent SPAK, but in fact we had nothing to prevent because SPAK had actually carried out the entire seizure and all the searches of the apartment and other items, and under these conditions, even though we lost in Strasbourg, we went again to the UN Human Rights Committee where we managed to obtain a security measure to suspend the actions and inspections of the assets seized against me ," Qyno told "Ora News".
We recall that journalist Elton Qyno was questioned in December 2023 for leaking materials from an investigative file for a series of serious crimes to the media, and after a search of his home, the Prosecution seized his mobile phones and electronic devices. Qyno has opposed the decision as a violation of his rights as a journalist.
