Arjan Hoxha, former head of the State Police, on "Të Pashoq" speaking about the assassinations that occurred a few days ago, one in Lezha and the other in Tirana, said that this shows that security in Albania is at minimal levels.
Hoxha said that one of the main reasons why Albania has about 1 million refugees is the lack of order and security, not only in relation to business, but also for life. He added that intellectuals prioritize order and security.
There is no reaction from senior officials to the successive events, how do you explain it?
I see this from two perspectives. The tendency to avoid true analysis, the tendency to clarify public opinion, but on the other hand I see organized crime that has no code and no rules, that does not even spare children, to achieve their criminal goal. I guarantee you that the psychological damage that crime causes, from the situation of honor, is a damage that destroys hopes, destroys trust in the entire institutional corpus that has to do with order and security.
Has it happened before that children were shot at?
There has been no previous tendency for criminal groups to target children. It can happen, but it is not planned. But in the Lundra attack, it was a planned attack. There may be errors in the object, but it was a planned attack, as long as there were observations. Maybe they mixed up the license plate, I think there is a clue that the target may have been wrong, since it would be animalistic to open fire on minors.
In your opinion, who should have reacted after the event?
The head of the State Police should have been the first to react, initially through the force of law, to document the event and hold the perpetrators involved accountable.
We should have had a reaction from the Director of Police, but also the Minister of Interior, to assure relatives and citizens that they would go to the end to clarify this incident or others that have remained unsolved. We have no procedural actions by the Police, we have zero proactive investigations by the Police.
Could the lack of reaction be related to the fact that the event was not reported?
In the campaign, order and security are paramount. But I think this happened to reduce sensitivity to the events. By not giving the institution a voice, by not giving the media a voice, this event would also be forgotten, as has happened before.
