Crackdown on cross-border criminal groups, Skënder Hita meets with British

The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, held meetings with regional police leaders and British officials, focusing on the fight against illegal migration and criminal groups.

The meetings took place within the framework of the conference on the results of the Joint Task Force on Migration, held in Kosovo, where Hita met with counterparts from Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia, as well as with senior representatives of United Kingdom law enforcement agencies.

During discussions with regional police leaders, the main focus was on strengthening operational cooperation and cross-border coordination to combat criminal phenomena and organized groups operating in several countries.

The parties agreed to increase the coordinated real-time response to criminal activities, as well as to deepen joint investigations and operations.

"Coordinated response in real time against criminal phenomena and deepening of investigations and joint operations to crack down on cross-border criminal groups,"  it was said at the meeting.

Another issue addressed was the management of the flow at border points during the tourist season. For this reason, the leaders agreed to increase the number of counters and human resources at the border crossing points with North Macedonia and Montenegro, with the aim of guaranteeing faster movement and better quality service for citizens.

As part of the conference, Hita also held meetings with the Deputy Director of Intelligence at the United Kingdom's Home Office, Vikki Pullen, as well as the Deputy Director of the Border Security Command, Jack Joseph.

During the meeting, the head of the State Police reconfirmed "the commitment and determination to deepen cooperation with international law enforcement partners and agencies."

For their part, British officials praised the results achieved within the framework of the Joint Task Force on Migration and described the Albanian State Police as "a key and reliable partner in facing common security challenges."
