SPAK has taken under investigation the prison officers who transferred the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj from Durrës, upon the appeal of the GJKKO.
According to investigations conducted by SPAK, it turns out that Veliaj used the phone of one of the police officers to make phone calls. Such a thing is prohibited.
It is learned that during interrogation, the prison officer admitted to doing so and stated that he had done it out of fear.
Erion Veliaj has been arrested on charges of corruption and concealment of assets. He appealed the security measure to the Appeals Court, but was also rejected. SPAK presented new evidence, where it had intercepted Veliaj's conversations with family members. Meanwhile, yesterday it was announced that the security cameras in the Durrës detention center and the meeting register have been seized.
