Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari spoke at a press conference, where he commented on the warning from the US embassy in Tirana, emphasizing that the security situation in the country remains under control.
During his speech, he stated that such announcements are common and should not cause concern among citizens.
"Citizens' security is guaranteed by the State Police. This announcement has also been made in other European countries, such as Belgium and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, such announcements from the US embassy have been made periodically, as they did for the DP protests for American citizens, so such announcements are routine from diplomatic representatives. We have increased measures for some diplomatic missions. Albanian citizens absolutely must feel safe. We are in daily communication with agencies inside and outside the country," said Lamallari.
He also spoke about the investigations related to the assassination attempt that occurred in Rinas last year, praising the work of the State Police and expressing confidence in further results.
"This is the work of the investigators regarding the case in question, I think that the state police have done their duty. I am convinced that the new police director, as he did during his presentation, will focus on strengthening trust inside and outside the country. I am confident that in the future we will have positive results," said Lamallari.
