Assassination in Rinas, journalism: Conflicts happen in the EU, settling scores

Journalist Elkier Bushkolaj, invited to the "Off the Record" studio, stated that conflicts occur in European Union countries, but settling scores occurs in our country.

The journalist further recalled a statement by Prime Minister Edi Rama before he came to power, in which he had promised that the country would be freed from gangs. According to the journalist, after Rama took power, he did not take any responsibility for the crimes that occurred in our country, passing the blame from one side to another.

"It is a mistake if we see the State Police as disconnected from other links. Here I am talking about the prosecution, the courts, entrepreneurship, civil society, the media... We see that we have a massively criminalized economy and from this criminalized economy we have no immunity, not even those of us in this studio and not even the State Police army. I remember an assassination attempt in Peqin prison, I am not mistaken, it was in 2013. A person was killed who was returning to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence, which he had very few months left. Then Mr. Rama said that crime is settling the last scores before the state shakes hands and liberates Albania from gangs and criminal groups. Then, a little later we came to the other statement "let them eat each other's heads", which is not dignified for a prime minister who has the luxury of appointing the Minister of the Interior, the director of the police and all the other structures. Then, "We moved on to blaming the courts, meaning that the police arrest them, bring them to justice and the courts release them and that's why there are so many murders. We moved on to the KÇK. We also did that Justice Reform. It did justice as it wanted. We came to the police vetting. Now, it is wrong to blame the State Police for everything that happens here. An account must also be sought at the highest levels," said Bushkolaj.

The journalist also said that citizens should protest, as according to him, recent criminal events have bordered on massacres.

"This is where citizens should come out in protest in relation to these events because if you have noticed, the recent criminal events have been on the verge of massacres. The Shkodra event was on the verge of massacre, in the middle of the city, in front of the Municipality. The event of October 8 last year in Shkodra was on the verge of massacre, with four dead. And all of these have a common element: they show the financial power of organized crime or criminal groups that undertake to carry out these events. Their financial power has also been exposed in this massive corruption of law enforcement agencies. And if this financial power is not stopped, I have the impression that the situation will continue and worsen. There is also something. He came from Barcelona. Why wasn't he killed in Barcelona? He was killed in Albania because in Barcelona it is very difficult to commit murders of this level. Why do conflicts occur in European Union countries and only settling scores occurs in Albania? Absolutely, because in recent years they have also started because of the expansion, because we have had murders and in Latin America. There are eight Albanians who have been killed in clashes in Latin America. Citizens have already lost trust for years because citizens also watch the news. When they see that a police director is the driver of a drug trafficker who is internationally wanted, they automatically lose the trust to call the police. Unfortunately, we must admit that there was no will. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the opposition has not been up to the task of demanding accountability in relation to what is happening. It has not been up to the task, whether with parliamentary committees, for example", added journalist Elkier Bushkolaj.
