Teuta Zhinipotoku, the lawyer of Naim Murseli, accused of staging the murder of his wife Liridona in Kovos, has declared that he is totally innocent of this event despite the accusations and testimonies given at the beginning to the police.
" Naim Murseli has completed the statement regarding the event that happened on the critical day. We cannot talk about charges but his position is different from the denunciation that was made. Naim's testimony is different from what he gave to the police when he was arrested.
As for that part, at the moment we have nothing to declare, but the statement will be published later, because for now we are in the investigation phase.
I cannot clarify the emotional and psychological state because I am not competent in that field. He had contact with family members, he was also allowed to make phone calls with a certain number that was allowed by the court.
As far as I know, there was no communication with the children, because they are outside the state of Kosovo. They are with Naim's family members, with the latter's parents.
There is no timeline yet on when there will be an official charge or sentencing for Naim. But it will not be long before the indictment is filed by the Prosecutor's Office ," said lawyer Zhinipotoku.
Naim Murseli allegedly promised Granit Pllava an amount of 30,000 euros to get rid of his wife. According to Kosovo media, Naim Murseli gave him 15 thousand euros in advance, while he would give the rest of the payment later.
He tried to camouflage it as a robbery by initially stating that some armed men had ambushed him and taken his personal belongings. In his statement to the police after the incident, he said that he was terrified and took their two young children and left. But according to him, Liridona was left in the car and was shot by the robbers.
Naim Murseli is charged with the criminal offense of "aggravated murder in complicity", Granit Pllava for "aggravated murder and possession of a weapon without a permit", while Kushtrim Kokalla for "agreement to commit an aggravated murder"
