For Edith Harxhi, the May 11 elections should not take place since the chairman of the Central Election Commission himself has stated that we are still far from Western standards.
The Democratic Party's candidate for deputy spoke about a pre-prepared spiral.
"Yesterday there was a statement by the chairman of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, which for me is scandalous and all media should deal with it. When asked by journalists what the standard is, whether democratic standards are being achieved, he stated: We are very, very far, even far from the democratic standards of Western countries," she said to "A2 CNN."
According to Harxhi, based on this statement, not only should the elections not be held, but also Chief Commissioner Celibashi should resign.
"...And take responsibility for why there are no democratic elections in Albania. This is a scandalous statement. This puts the CEC and all of them, including the government, in such a spiral that it is now prepared, they themselves declare it... Mr. Celibashi must definitely be asked to leave office ," said Harxhi.
