At a time when the Inspectorate of Territorial Protection in Durres is engaged in several actions simultaneously, its head, Ilir Ngresi, has decided to resign from his position. The resignation comes after a meeting with the mayor, Emiriana Sako.
IMT, together with other local companies, is currently part of a large-scale operation to demolish buildings built over drainage canals, an intervention that aims to solve problems that have accumulated over the years in the city. In parallel, other actions are also underway to free up public spaces.
According to reports from the municipality, the function of the head of the IMT has been accompanied by constant workload and pressure, due to the sensitive nature of this sector. Clashes with various interests, citizen reactions and administrative responsibilities have created a difficult situation for the exercise of the duty.
In recent months, Ngresi has also faced strong public opposition. One of the most prominent episodes was in February, when residents of the historic area reacted to the TID Durrës project, accusing him of involvement in procedures that required the vacating of apartments.
According to "TCH", the decision to resign is also related to the continuous pressure on the ground and the implementation of difficult decisions. Meanwhile, there is still no name for his replacement, while the actions launched by IMT are expected to continue.
