The State Police landed this Wednesday at the premises of Equos Resort, where the decision to seize several assets is being implemented.
Journalist Klodiana Lala reports that the actions have focused on several villas within the complex. These buildings are suspected of being built without a permit and then legalized in violation of the law.
It is reported that the assets in question are suspected to be related to Ergys Agas, while authorities are expected to provide more details on the operation and the progress of the ongoing investigations.
Ergys Agasi, known as the "crime coordinator", seems to have made billions from his connections with Edi Rama's government. The Special Prosecution Office has seized 30 assets. While his associate Ermal Beqiri has had 11 assets seized, including a yacht. Some assets have also been seized from the former director of the National Anti-Corruption Agency (AKSHI), Mirlinda Kërçanaj.
Agasi's total seized assets include apartments in Tirana, Durrës and tourist areas, land and buildings in Petrelë, Lundë, Green Coast, Gjilekë and Golem, as well as luxury vehicles, such as a 2023 Land Rover Defender and a yacht named "Skyfall".
At the request of SPAK, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has ordered the seizure of a long list of assets, which according to SPAK have an approximate value of over 40 million euros.
The court's decision includes apartments, land, villas, forests, buildings, luxury vehicles, bank accounts in several financial institutions, as well as shares in commercial entities owned by Agas, Beqiraj, and Karçanaj.
Among the seized assets are: apartments and properties in various areas of Tirana, Durrës and Vlora, large areas of land and forests in Petrela and other peripheral areas, luxury vehicles, several bank accounts, commercial entities and shares in various companies, as well as vessels, including a yacht.
Also, in some cases, significant amounts of money held in the accounts of various commercial entities have been seized. An arrest warrant has been issued for Agas, who is on the run, at the request of SPAK, following investigations into the AKSHI scandal, where the businessman is accused of interfering in public tenders.
