The elected mayor of the municipality of Himara, Fredi Beleri, convicted by Albanian justice for buying votes in the local elections of May 2023, was chosen by the "New Democracy" party of Prime Minister Mistotakis, in the list of candidates for MEPs.
Investigative journalist, Artan Hoxha, said in the show "The Unexposed", Hoxha said that after his candidacy, Greek politics not only in the opposition is against him, because they remember his criminal past and say that he cannot represent them in the European Parliament.
" When Fredi Beleri's name was mentioned for the MEP, they were in unison on the national issue, unlike us who fight. The moment it was included in the list for MEPs and was introduced by Mistotakis, it exploded. They need to maximize the votes of the young fascists who have no party. The new democracy brought Beler to them, because he represented right-wing extremism, and they said that we cannot run for him with this criminal past. Politicians say they cannot run for a man with this past.
Greece has only 21 MEPs and New Democracy takes 6-7 MEPs there. The opposition says how a person who is in prison and has been convicted can represent Greece.
The introduction of Beler did us a great service and now all televisions are dealing with it. They are now releasing the chronicles of 1995, when Beleri was arrested" , said Hoxha.
