The ban on the movement of heavy-duty vehicles transporting industrial goods during the weekends of the summer season has caused long queues at the Morin-Vërmicë Border Crossing.
Dozens of trucks have been forced to wait to cross the border, while the convoy of vehicles has stretched for several kilometers near the border crossing.
According to truck drivers, the situation has been aggravated not only by the movement restrictions, but also by the slow pace of procedures on the Kosovo side of the border. They claim that the processing of trucks is being carried out at only one counter, increasing waiting times and traffic.
Based on the decision in force, the movement of goods vehicles is prohibited from 15:00 to 24:00 on Friday and from 07:00 to 24:00 on Saturday and Sunday. As a result, hundreds of heavy vehicles have accumulated near the border awaiting the resumption of movement.
Drivers say that long waits are causing them to waste time and additional financial costs, affecting freight transport times and their income.
With the increase in traffic flow during the tourist season, drivers are calling for the acceleration of customs procedures and the review of traffic restrictions, to avoid congestion and long lines at the Morin-Vërmicë border.
