As a result of the overflowing of the Vjosa River, the Civil Emergencies have issued an immediate evacuation order yesterday for the residents of Novosela. Homes are at risk due to heavy rainfall that has worsened the situation.
The village of Bishan is still under water today after recent rainfall, with water penetrating homes up to 1 meter deep overnight.
The main road connecting the village to the surrounding areas is blocked, isolating four villages.
They say that the water in their homes has reached over 1 m, or more. One citizen has been trapped in his apartment, unable to get out due to the high water level.
"I can't leave the apartment, the water has reached 1 m. The water entered the house 10 feet deep, but we cleaned it. We haven't slept," says the citizen trapped in the apartment.
Some others express concern for their livestock, as the water has also flooded their food supplies.
"I'm using the tractor to cross the road. I have livestock that I've taken out to the village, I want to get food for them, but I can't cross. I don't even have water to drink for myself. I'm not asking about the damage to the house, but about the livestock. I have nothing to feed them. I can't get grass because it's wet," says a citizen.
"All the agricultural lands of Bishan village have been flooded. The chickens have died. The water was coming in seconds. I immediately went out to save the chickens. I can't drive past my house," says another citizen.
