Another serious denunciation of possible vote buying has been made public in the Gjirokastra District.
According to sources from the Democratic Party, the incident occurred in the Zinxhiria e Poshtme neighborhood, on "Baba Rechepi" street, where citizens filmed a person in a vehicle, allegedly owned by Shamet Feruni, local leader of the Socialist Party, exchanging something with several members of the Roma community.
The footage has been submitted to the State Police and the Prosecutor's Office, where the procedure for escorting the persons involved in the video to the police station has been immediately initiated. It is learned that they will be questioned in the presence of a representative of the prosecutor's office, to clarify the suspicious circumstances of this meeting.
The Gjirokastra Democratic Party has filed relevant complaints with law enforcement agencies, requesting a thorough investigation into the case. According to the complainants, community members were offered money in exchange for votes – a practice that, if proven, constitutes a serious violation of electoral law and a blow to the integrity of the process.
A video also circulated in the media, but it was later deleted.
