The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
After 3 months under house arrest, Berisha asked for freedom in the Supreme Court, but this attempt was also rejected.
" The Criminal Board, after examining in its entirety and fundamentally all the causes presented in the appeal presented by Mr. Sali Berisha, decided: The enforcement of decision no. 15 dated 25.01.2024, of the Court of Special Appeals for Corruption and Organized Crime." - said in the announcement.
Berisha is under investigation for the privatization of the former club Partizani, during the time when he was prime minister.
We remind you that only a day ago the Special Court dismissed the requests for freedom of Berisha and her son-in-law Jamarbër Malltez, leaving the house arrest measure in effect.
Berisha is under investigation for the privatization of the former club Partizani, during the time when he was prime minister. He is suspected of favoring his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi, also under house arrest, in the acquisition of land properties. Malltezi then built palace complexes on that land.
Berisha was initially ordered to appear, but he refused to obey the order and the Special Prosecutor's Office had the right to change the measure to house arrest.
