Chronicle journalist, Klodiana Lala, has made strong accusations against the head of the State Police, Ilir Proda, accusing him of destroying the professional structure of the institution through personal vendettas and political interference.
According to Lala, if a police officer refuses to obey the orders of the current leader, the consequence is immediate: demotion and transfer to suburban areas.
In a public analysis, she emphasized that many of the officers with long careers have been penalized for no other reason than non-compliance with the chain of command. As an example, Lala mentions the case of the former chief of police station no. 2, who had arrested a person connected to the police hierarchy, but was sentenced to a reduction in rank and transferred first to Devoll and then to Kukës. For the journalist, this is a clear signal that professionalism and honesty no longer apply in the State Police.
Klodiana Lala: Do you know what the biggest problem is that is happening today in the state police, Mr. Rakipi? It is precisely the fact that every police officer who does not obey the orders of Ilir Proda, automatically finds himself demoted the next day. It is enough to look at the decisions on demotions over the last six months and you will see the former chief of police station number two who arrested Altin Morina, who was one of the people connected to the state police hierarchy. He is demoted for a year and initially sent to Devoll, from Devoll finally to Kukës, and tomorrow we can see him finally removed from the state police. You have officers with a long career in the state police who have been demoted just because they have not obeyed the orders of the state police hierarchy. And I think this is the biggest drama that is happening to the police; that all the specialized people, although it's a bit off topic, but since Ferdinand brought it up, are being scattered either in environments that do nothing or are being sent to distant districts that are not meaningful, while in fact the focus should be on preventing criminal events, solving criminal events or cracking down on organized crime.
