The Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime rejected the demands of the lawyers and left in force the existing security measures for the former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj, the businessman Ilir Rrapaj and the other 6 people accused of abuse of office and fraud in the case of the sterilization concession.
It is learned that judge Etleva Deda evaluated the security measures for the 8 accused persons, as the session took place behind closed doors.
Lawyers for people behind bars and under house arrest asked for lighter security measures. The lawyer of the former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj, Elvira Hysa asked for a milder security measure or a financial guarantee.
Meanwhile, after hearing the parties, the court withdrew for a decision.
Businessman Ilir Rrapaj and former deputy minister Klodian Rjepaj were arrested yesterday and are behind bars, as investigations continue for officials and other people involved and in the coming days there may be other arrest warrants.
