SPAK has called the former Minister of Finance Shkëlqim Can as a witness for the sterilization concession. It is learned that the former minister will be questioned about this concession that has led several people to prison.
In the last 24 hours, SPAK signed eight arrest warrants for former officials involved in the sterilization concession, worth 100 million euros. The former Deputy Minister of Health Klodjan Rjepaj has been arrested, as well as the businessman Ilir Rrapaj who received this concession and is accused of fraud.
Saimir Kadiu, economic director at the Ministry of Health, and Marsela Serjanaj, legal director at the Ministry of Health, have been placed under house arrest.
Surgeon Arben Gjata, chief of surgery and rector of the University of Medicine, is required to appear. The same measure has been decided for Naile Ajazi, Genc Byrazer and Petro Mersini, former General Director of the Hospital Service in the Ministry of Health. The charges against them are forgery and abuse of office.
How did the investigations begin?
The first to be questioned by the prosecutors was the member of the Concession Commission, Saimir Kadiu, as well as the members of the Tender Commission. The procedure for sterilization of surgical sets is the first SPAK file and has been under investigation for 3 years.
The report was made by representatives of "Nisma Thurje", who have criminally denounced the officials involved in granting the sterilization process with a concession. They have requested the investigation of the officials, starting with the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja, who according to them have abused the state budget.
