Commenting on the developments in Himarë, lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu said that the battle for this municipality is not a Rama-Berisha war, but the control of the coast from Tirana or Athens. In an interview for Report TV, Spahiu said that the battle is for economic interests.
" The conflict in Himara will end when Himara is controlled by Albania and not by Greece. The war in Himara is not a war for one individual. It is not a war between Rama and Berisha, but between Albania and Greece, who controls the coast, which is of great economic importance. Because of the coast, the war has moved to Himares and the possibility of Greece for the Hellenization of the coast and aspirations for Northern Epirus. I hope that in the early elections this battle will end ", said Spahiu.
Also, Spahiu has called on the president of the country, Bajram Begaj, to announce early elections in Himara, after the election of Fredi Beleri as an MEP from the Mitsotakis party, although he is in prison in Albania for buying votes.
" There are two moments; one related to the mandate and two to Beller's freedom. I call on Begaj to urgently declare early elections in Himare as a constitutional obligation derived from the law on local government, because Fredi Beleri is in a conflict of interest and cannot be elected in two bodies at the same time. If the mayor runs for another body, then early elections are announced. Rama cannot be both Prime Minister of Albania and MEP. It is a vacant seat now.
He should have announced it since his name was on the list. How will he practice his profession?! Before September Fredi Beleri will be free, I do not wish harm to anyone, but I read the law. The Court of Appeal cannot increase the sentence for Beler. I think the decision for Beleri will be within June. Fredi Beleri will be a free citizen to go to the EP ", said Spahiu.
