Interior Minister Taulant Balla revealed the purpose of the summer season as it pertains to the fight against cannabis cultivation. Balla said that this is the year when this phenomenon must finally be put to an end.
"In 2023, we gave a strong blow to the cultivation of narcotic plants. But this year, we must finally rid the country of the problem of the cultivation of cannabis narcotic plants", said Balla.
In a meeting in Hora-Vranisht of Himara, where the mayors of Vlora district, police leaders and more were present, Balla spoke about the use of drones in aerial monitoring, together with the Guardia di Finanza.
"During this year and very soon, monitoring from the air will also begin with the "Bayraktar" drones together with the Guardia di Finanza, which will intensify controls. With the aim not only of cultivating narcotic plants, but also of striking constructions without permission", said Balla.
Balla asked the police to focus on two specific points, illegal constructions on the coast and mountains of cannabis.
"We will no longer deal with the roofs of the villagers, these procedures have been simplified for the citizens, but controls of illegal constructions on the coast and for cannabis. The SPZs no longer have to deal with this work, enough with the stories of the roofs", the minister emphasized.
Prefect Vangjel Tavo was also present at the meeting, a position which, after the recently approved legal changes, has received more powers, especially in terms of security.
