Journalist Artan Hoxha has made serious accusations regarding the disappearance of Ervis Martinaj. According to him, the criminal group behind his elimination is today more powerful than ever and has seized power.
In an interview with Euronews Albania, Hoxha said that Martinaj's end did not come because of clashes with the criminal world, but because he clashed with the government. He cited a previous statement by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who had publicly hinted at Martinaj's whereabouts with the words: "We know who the director of gambling is, we even know his license plate number."
" The Prime Minister himself was involved in that event, one of the rare ones. In a public event, he said that we know who the director of gambling is, we know his car license plate. It was Ervis Martinaj's involvement in the campaign in support of the opposition and that's why Rama labeled him. The message was very clear ," Hoxha said.
The journalist emphasized that after Martinaj's disappearance, the group that carried out the execution not only escaped justice, but was even more empowered, gaining ground and influence in the hierarchy of organized crime in Albania.
" Look at the recent events taking place in Albania. The same hand that eliminated Martinaj has gained immediate traction and is very active and dangerous today. We have a new hierarchy in the underworld and in the world of hired killers. None of that team has been arrested. Jeton Lami, the only officer who could have helped, has remained silent. The story has remained there since he came out ," said Hoxha.
He added that law enforcement authorities have information, but they dare not act due to the power of that criminal group that, according to him, has infiltrated all levels of government.
" It's not that they don't have data, but some don't want to talk. The alliance that carried out the murder is very strong and in power at all levels. You can't have underground power if you're not connected to those at the top. Martinaj's end came not because of rivals - he had them all his life - but because he clashed with power. He wasn't a tribal or social structure, he was a mercenary ," Hoxha declared.
