
The American Embassy in Tirana today welcomed the new charge d'affaires David Wisner and his family to Albania.
In a reaction on social networks, Wisner said that for him it is a privilege to serve in Albania, adding that he is looking forward to learning more about history and culture.
"The team of the US Embassy in Tirana welcomed today in Albania the new Charge d'Affaires, David Wisner and his family.
Wisner said it is an honor to serve in Albania and he looks forward to learning more about its remarkable history and culture. The Embassy will continue to build its partnership with Albania to advance democracy, defense and business ties," the Embassy posted.
Who is Washington's special envoy in Tirana, David Wiinser?
A career diplomat, David Wisner began his duties as Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Tirana in August 2023.
He previously served as Director of the Office of Global Food Security at the Department of State and before that as Deputy Director for Press and Strategic Communications and as Spokesperson in the Middle East Bureau. He also served as Special Assistant to State Department Counsel Kristie Kenney, advising her on African, Middle Eastern, and North African issues. David headed the Political and Economic Section at the US Embassy in Algiers, Algeria and served in the political sections at the US Embassies in Khartoum, Sudan and Bangui, Central African Republic.
David speaks Arabic and French and graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont.
