"This precise attack could have been prepared for a decade", Tonin

Former Albanian ambassador to Israel, Tonin Gjuraj, says that Israel may have been preparing for an entire decade to carry out such a precise and sophisticated attack on Iran, which hit military nuclear facilities and eliminated senior military leaders and scientists.

In an interview with Report TV, Gjuraj said that the Israeli army may have destroyed 1/3 of the ballistic missiles that Iran has.

According to him, three factors have influenced the fact that Israel attacked right now. First, the provocative statements of the Iranian leadership about nuclear bombs, second, the postponement of talks with the US on the nuclear program, and Iran's support for terrorist organizations such as Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen, and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

" Three factors forced Israel to launch the attack. First, we have had a series of provocative statements by the Iranian regime about producing nuclear bombs in a few days. Second, Iran has been constantly postponing the date of the start of negotiations with the US and it is in Israel's interest to have an agreement on the nuclear program. Third, let's not forget that terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the Houthis have had and have the support of Iran. Combining these factors and the moment, perhaps the drowsiness of the secret services or the Revolutionary Guard of Iran, they found the night of October 13 and launched such an attack ," he stressed.

According to the former ambassador, the conflict between Iran and Israel is also ideological. He cited statements by Iranian leaders over the years, who have spoken of a world map without Israel.

" The Israel-Iran conflict is also a conflict of ideology. We must remember the statements of former Iranian presidents and the current leadership that speak of a map of a world without Israel. And they have been open statements. The Iranian regime, Khamenei, and they have declared the disappearance of the state of Israel, the map of a world without Israel. For Israel, this is about the existence of its own state and they justify it with self-defense. This is the fundamental reason that we must distinguish between Israel's relations with Iran and Israel's relations with other Middle Eastern countries ," Gjuraj added.

When asked if diplomacy is "dead," Gjuraj responded by saying that pressure is being exerted for the parties to sit down for talks, for Iran to accept an agreement on its nuclear program, and for Israel to be guaranteed that its existence is not threatened. But will this conflict end soon?

According to him, the conflict is difficult to end but added that the attacks can be stopped. He also added that he does not believe that Israel's goal is to overthrow the Khamenei regime at the moment, although the latter may fall, considering Israel's sophisticated strikes.

" Iran is a more consolidated country than Syria. Syria has fallen. But Iran is a more consolidated democratic regime in terms of institutions, tradition, despite the fact that only democracy is not in relation to the media or basic human rights. I do not think that Israel's goal at the moment is to overthrow the Khamenei regime. If it comes naturally from attacks, it may happen, but I do not believe that this is the goal. This is not the last domino. Iran, with the support that the US gives to Israel and some other Western countries, this remains to be seen, but I believe that the attack and the dynamic developments, the pressure from the US and the very precise organization of the Israeli attacks will force it to sit down at the table. In other words, the conflict will continue for a long time, but perhaps the tensions can be stopped ," he added.
