Prosecutor General Olsian Çela stated that Albania will sign today with Montenegro a memorandum of understanding that will provide a positive bilateral effect towards coordinated regional action on justice issues.
From the Consultative Forum of General and Special Prosecutors of the Western Balkans, Çela stated during his speech that the trajectory that will be described in terms of regional cooperation regarding justice issues must be clearly defined.
"For Albania and not only, the achievements so far constitute a visible progress that means that our justice systems are on the right path of standardization and harmonization on the path towards the EU," Çela affirmed.
Prosecutor General Çela stated that this forum confirms the institutional will to contribute to the country's integration process.
"We are aware that our work in the regional report is closely related to this process, while this project has laid the foundations towards a stronger and more secure integration and closer to the European family," said Çela.
Çela also said that there is a need for better coordination between law enforcement agencies.
"I hope that today will be a positive day, clearly defining the trajectory we want to describe in the continuation of regional cooperation. Thanks to this project, we have seen concrete improvements in the function of regional cooperation, completely unimaginable a few years ago. There is a need for better coordination, first of all, between all law enforcement agencies at the national level in order to harmonize investigative activities and their pace in relation to other countries that will be worked on. It is a sign of a serious and long-term commitment that, while creating new dynamics in bilateral cooperation, will have positive effects in terms of consolidating coordinated action at the regional level," said the Prosecutor General.
