The Israeli Ambassador to Albania, Galit Peleg, gave an exclusive interview to Euronews Albania, where she spoke about the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran.
She emphasized that the threat coming from Iran is not only to Israel, but poses a danger to the entire world, including Albania.
Referring to the possibility of an attack by Iran on Albania, the ambassador said that it would not be surprising at all if they had the capacities ready for such a thing, since according to her, Albania, like any other country, is exposed to danger.
She cited the cyberattack of several years ago as an example and warned that any country could be threatened in various forms by Iran.
"Look, there is no need for Albania to be bombed by Iran. If they reach capacity, they threaten you. It is enough to threaten you. Two and a half years ago, or three, they cyberattacked you and tried to destroy your digital services. If they can threaten you in different ways to influence your positions on different issues, they can keep their finger on the trigger and put pressure on you. And the question is what are you going to do? If Israel is Iran's target, why is Iran developing ballistic missiles that go twice as far as Israel? Clearly, this means that Israel is not their ultimate target. Albania could also be in danger ," Peleg said.
According to Ambassador Peleg, if Iran manages to develop advanced ballistic or nuclear capabilities, it could use them as a tool of pressure or blackmail against states it does not consider allies, emphasizing that the Iranian threat is broader than perceived:
"It's not just the West that is at risk from this state. Any state can be threatened by this regime if it has the means. Therefore, the goal is for that regime not to have these capacities," she said.
Regarding Israel's military operation against Iran, Peleg confirmed close cooperation with the United States:
"The operation was coordinated with the Americans. We have good relations with them. We received support through various supplies from them. Everything is open, there is nothing to hide. Israel has been the leader of this attack, and anyone who will join them is welcome."
Asked whether eliminating Iran's supreme leader was part of the military objectives, the ambassador ruled it out as a direct goal, but did not rule out the possibility as a side effect of military operations.
"Eliminating the supreme leader of Iran is not one of the objectives set in this attack. The objectives are military. The goal, as I told you, is to destroy their uranium enrichment capabilities and their ballistic capabilities. But still, if something changes along the way, I think it would be a bonus, not only for Israel and the rest of the world, but also for the Iranians themselves. However, this is not one of our objectives," Peleg concluded.
