Legalization of cannabis, Beci: Very big alarm for Albania, control has failed

The former Serious Crimes Prosecutor, Eugen Beci, has spoken about the legalization of cannabis for medical use in Albania.

He stated that Albania is a source country for soft drugs and has had significant problems with drug trafficking and production, which other European countries do not have, according to him.

Beci further added that this is a big alarm for Albania, while he said that the control of cannabis in the country has failed because the police itself has been complicit.

He also revealed that according to the draft law, cannabis will be cultivated in the country, but then it will not be sold in Albanian pharmacies, as it will be transported abroad to be processed.

" We need to understand the specifics of Albania, which is a source country for all soft drugs and has had problems with drug trafficking and production. Other European countries do not have this problem with cannabis. Based on all the statistics and the situation it's a very big alarm about how cannabis is trafficked. It's a bill that has two pillars, medical and industrial cannabis.

Control of cannabis has failed because the police themselves are complicit with it. As for the way of controlling the state for illegal actions, there should be a new draft law. Cannabis will be cultivated here for medical production that will be used outside. It has not been determined that any other laws on illegal substances will be changed. This cannabis will be produced in these 200 hectares and will be transported abroad to be processed. It will not be found in Albanian pharmacies ", he said in "Open".
