Gaza War, Israel Kills Hamas Politburo Leader

The Israeli army in an attack in Gaza killed Jamila al-Shanti, the widow of Hamas co-founder Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi and the first woman elected in 2021 to the organization's Politburo. 

This is reported by local sources. Her husband Al-Rantisi was killed in 2004 by an Israeli attack.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military says it is currently striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Lebanese television Al Mayadeen had reported that the airstrikes targeted two villages in the south of the country: Kafr Shuba and Odaisseh.

During a visit to Israel on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden said Israel has agreed to allow humanitarian aid into the impoverished enclave, even as it is bombing it in response to Hamas attacks on Israel.

Israel, which controls almost all Gaza crossings, says it will not allow aid to enter through its soil "until all the hostages are released."

Israel's military launched a bombardment and cordoned off the Gaza Strip, preventing food, water and fuel from entering and cutting off electricity supplies, shortly after Hamas militants carried out attacks on several southern Israeli cities on October 7.
