Ervin Salianji's lawyer, Ledio Braho, said that the DP deputy enjoys a mandate obtained from the sovereignty of the people, while he is being punished for an action committed in 2018. The lawyer adds that after this sentence, Salianji was again elected by the people as a deputy.
He says that "today we filed a request for suspension that can be made in the Supreme Court, we also filed a request in the Court of Appeal in order to justify the decision as we still do not know the reasoning of the Court of Appeal with which it left enforce the prison sentence for Salinjni".
" This has nothing to do with the fact that we want to postpone for 3 months the execution of Salinaji's prison sentence... but the first is because he enjoys a mandate received from the people and as we know sovereignty is exercised by the people and is this is provided for in the Constitution.
We must bear in mind that the sentence that Salinaji is serving today is the sentence for a criminal offense supposedly committed in 2018, so about 6 years have passed since then.
